Untitled

Patrick Gantert blends history with fictional narratives from 1917 through today in a site-specific, four-part performance that will move through both the intimate and public spaces of the Union Depot. The narrative of Gantert’s Untitled developed out of intensive research into the Union Depot’s history, particularly the conflicted and part fictional persona of Charles Sumner Frost, the building’s chief architect.

Gantert’s use of multiple, layered narratives in Untitled brings the audience forward in time as he dives in and out of characters and past milestones of the Union Depot’s construction. His deceptively non-linear and impressionistic style of verbal delivery builds to a fever pitch at points during the performance, responding to character, developing narrative and the physical topology of the Depot. Using minimal staging and props, Gantert employs the power of language and gesture to energize the audience and performance as Untitled meanders through time, personalities, and real and dreamed environments.

The audience is encouraged to return for each segment and experience Untitled as the performance develops throughout the evening.
